  Tourism Quality Plan
Compromiso de Calidad TurísticaIn recent years, the tourist has become a mature and demanding client who is interested, not only in a good price but also in an appropriate relationship between price and service. This, along with the need for keeping abreast of the changes taking place in the tourist sector and the search for excellence in the destination, led to Santiago de Compostela requesting, in 2001, to be a Pilot Destination in the Comprehensive System of Spanish Tourist Destination Quality. This is a project promoted by the Secretariat General for Tourism and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, in which more than 85 destinations throughout Spain are currently participating.

SICTED involves the introduction of a quality system in most sub-sectors and sectors related to tourism. Good Practices Manuals for Tourism Quality have therefore been prepared for 25 kinds of companies and services:
Travel Agencies Hotels and Apartments
Hostels Active Leisure
Car Rental Information Offices
Craftspeople Other services
Bars and Cafeterias Congress Organisers
Campsites Congress Halls
Rural Accommodation Beaches
Sites of Tourist Interest Marinas
Tourism Business Local Police
Convention Bureau Restaurants
Natural Reserves Taxis
Ski Resorts Tourist Transport
Tourist Guides
As a result of SICTED’s introduction in our city, 124 establishments and services were certified in 2008. This figure will soon be increased with new certifications.
